Kavanati — Help & User Guide

Last updated: 1 August 2026 (v1.5.5)

Kavanati needs zero configuration — install it and type. This guide covers the power features: shortcuts, undo, the personal dictionary and per-app rules.

1. Getting started

Windows: run Kavanati-windows.exe (if SmartScreen warns — More info → Run anyway). The icon appears in the system tray, and you're done: just type.

macOS: unzip, open Kavanati.app, grant Accessibility and Input Monitoring in System Settings → Privacy & Security, then relaunch. The icon appears in the menu bar.

2. The automatic fix

Kavanati watches which keyboard layout is active while you type. When a word only makes sense in the other language — you typed akuo but meant שלום — it deletes the gibberish, switches the layout, and retypes what you meant, instantly. Real words are never touched: if what you typed is a legitimate word in the language you typed it in, Kavanati assumes you meant it. Password and secure fields are always ignored.

3. Fix a whole line at once

Typed a full sentence before noticing? One shortcut converts the entire line (or your selection), numbers and correct words untouched:

4. Undo — and it never repeats the mistake

Fixed something you actually meant? Press the same shortcut right after the fix: the text is restored, and that word is added to your protected list — Kavanati will never auto-change it again. The menu shows how many words you've protected.

5. The personal dictionary

Kavanati learns your vocabulary, on your device: type any word three times and it becomes part of your personal dictionary — your slang and jargon stop being "corrected", and even their wrong-layout gibberish starts fixing back to them. Everything stays in a local settings file; empty it any time via Settings → Clear learned words.

6. Per-app rules

Some apps deserve different behaviour. Type in the app, then open the menu → Per-app rules… → "This app":

"Force English on focus" (in Settings) goes one step further and switches your keyboard to English the moment you focus an English-only app.

7. Updates

Kavanati checks for new versions automatically (the app's only network request) and shows a one-click download when one exists. You can always check manually via "Check for updates…".

8. Your plan

Kavanati is currently a free beta — everything included. A paid Pro tier may arrive later; the core auto-fix will stay free, and there are no accounts — your plan will simply be a license key you enter in the app.

9. Privacy in one line

Everything runs on your device: no account, no analytics, nothing you type is ever sent anywhere or written to disk. Details in the privacy policy.

10. Feedback

Found a miss or a wrong fix? That report is gold — it becomes a permanent test case. Use the feedback form (also in the app menu: "Report a problem…", pre-filled with the last fix), or plain email: [email protected].
